I have taken my liberation in bits and pieces

I have taken my liberation in bits and pieces

Flight Plan

I have taken my liberation in bits and pieces

I have felt the ancient cage

loosen its hold

around my heart

in small, dry creaks

so as not to let the beaten leather skin

fall away too soon

to leave the tender flesh beneath

to the sun and the wind

not that the sudden shiver of freedom

would be so wrong

because I have seen the impossible

proven in the crazy-mad flight plans

of the woolly yellow and black bumblebees

before I tore my gaze away

I saw dominion on such flimsy wings

as they consecrated the blue oceans

of flowers.
